Questions we get a lot

Still not sure about something? Everything people ask before they take a capybara home.

How big is a capybara plush?

Sizes run from minis that sit in one hand to giants you carry with two arms. Most capybara plush fall between 8 in (20 cm) and 18 in (45 cm), giants start around 24 in (60 cm), and life size runs to about 4 ft (120 cm).

Every product page gives the height, length, and weight in inches and centimeters, next to something you can judge scale by — because a measurement means nothing until you see it beside something familiar.

What is a weighted capybara plush?

A weighted capybara plush has beads in an inner pouch, so it settles into your lap instead of sitting on top of it. People reach for one the way they reach for a weighted blanket — something with a bit of heft while reading, working, or winding down at the end of the day. It's a comfort object, not a medical device.

Where a capybara here is weighted, you'll find its weight on the product page.

Why are capybara plush so expensive?

Because the three things that decide whether a plush lasts are the three you can't see in a photo: how densely it's filled, whether the pile is long enough to brush one way and stay there, and whether the seams are stitched once or twice.

We buy against that list, not against the lowest price — and each product page sets out the filling, pile, and stitching we've been able to confirm with the maker, so you can see where the money went.

Are capybara plush safe for kids?

Every capybara here is a collectible for ages 14 and up - not a tested children's toy. We hold no age grading and no toy-safety certification for them.

WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD — Small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs. This applies to any capybara with sewn-on details, micro-beads or removable accessories. Where it applies to an item, you will find it on that item's product page.

How do I clean a capybara plush?

Start with the care label — it wins. Failing that: spot clean with cool water and a little mild soap, brush the pile back one way while it's still damp, and dry it away from direct heat.

Never machine wash a weighted capybara — the beads migrate in the spin cycle and the plush never sits the same way again.

Do you offer gift wrapping?

Not yet — gift wrapping isn't something we can add at checkout today. What we do have: every capybara here has a name, and we keep it with the order from the product page through to your confirmation email, so the person opening it knows who they're meeting.

How long does shipping take?

Orders are prepared and shipped within 1 to 3 business days. Delivery inside the United States then takes between 1 and 18 business days on top of that, and on rare occasions longer for reasons outside our control — customs, public holidays, weather.

You get a confirmation email straight away, and a tracking link as soon as one is available. The full detail is on our Shipping Policy page.

Can I return a capybara plush?

Yes — you have 14 days from delivery to ask for a return, as long as the capybara comes back unused and in the condition it arrived in. Return shipping is yours, unless it arrived damaged or faulty or was not the one you ordered, in which case we cover it in full.

We do not offer direct exchanges: return the item for a refund and place a new order. The full terms are on our Refund Policy page.

About the herd

Capybara plush, made to be kept

We do one thing: capybara plush. Not a catalog of animals with a capybara somewhere in it — a herd of capybara stuffed animals, each with a name, a size, and a temperament of its own. Minis for a desk, weighted ones for a lap, giants that need their own corner of the sofa, and a shelf of cute capybara faces in between.

Every capybara is listed with its real height and weight in inches and centimeters, shown against something you can judge scale by, and sent out under its own name.

How to choose a capybara plush size

Size is the thing people get wrong most often, and it's the fastest way to be disappointed by a plush that was otherwise the right one.

A mini capybara plush — anything under 10 in (25 cm) — is a desk object: it sits by a monitor, rides in a bag, works as a keychain. A standard capybara, somewhere between 12 and 18 in (30–45 cm), is the one people actually hold, and the size that ends up on a bed.

A giant capybara plush starts around 24 in (60 cm), and past that the object changes job — it stops being a toy and becomes something you lean against. A life-size capybara plush is a real category too: a grown capybara runs about 4 ft (120 cm) nose to tail, and a plush at that scale needs a corner of its own. Both live in the giant collection.

Every product page gives height, length, and weight in both units, next to a scale reference you can actually read.

What makes a capybara plush last

Whether a capybara stuffed animal still looks like itself in two years comes down to filling, pile, and seams. Filling density first: under-filled plush go flat exactly where you hold them, and no amount of fluffing brings the shape back.

The second is the pile: long fur brushed one way holds that direction, while short synthetic fur mats wherever it gets handled.

The third is the seams. A plush fails at a seam before it fails anywhere else, which is why double stitching along the belly and the limbs is the thing worth looking for. It costs more to make and it's the one part nobody photographs — so when a maker confirms it to us, we put it on the product page.

Some capybaras do more than sit there

A weighted capybara plush has beads in an inner pouch, and the good ones spread that weight so the plush settles rather than slumps. The weight is the point: it gives your hands and your lap something to push against, which is why people reach for one while reading, working, or winding down at the end of the day. If you're shopping for what people call an emotional support capybara, weight matters more than size — it's comfort, not treatment. The weighted capybara has its own product page, with its exact weight listed.

Caring for a capybara plush

Check the care label first — it wins over anything we can tell you here. After that, almost nothing on a capybara is fragile except the pile and the seams, and both fail slowly enough to catch.

Dry it flat in open air, never on a heater: direct heat is what turns soft pile into something crunchy, and it doesn't come back. And close a seam early — a half-inch gap becomes a four-inch one in a week.

Choosing a capybara for someone else

Capybara gifts work for a reason that has little to do with capybaras: a plush is one of the few things you can give an adult without attaching an excuse.

Two things go wrong, though. People buy too small, because photographs flatten scale — check the size against the reference in the photo. And people buy the plainest one, when the cute capybara wearing something faintly ridiculous is the one that gets remembered.

Every capybara here arrives under its own name, so a gift turns up already introduced.
